We have arrived at the halfway point of the calendar year which started in January with the Sun in Capricorn. The Full Moon in Capricorn always falls in the summer months, calling us to check our progress in our personal growth, projects, responsibilities and new year intentions. Sensible Capricorn helps us to feel into what is wise at this time and then make appropriate choices.
Priorities and responsibilities are strong features of Capricorn energy. Under this lunar spell, we may gain insight into what we are avoiding, where we are carrying too much weight in our teams, or maybe how much we are depending on others. With the Sun and Mercury casting their light on the full moon from the watery world of Cancer, this is a great chance to acknowledge our feelings. We all have needs which help us to feel more secure. Question is, are your needs being met? And are you getting enough balance in life? All work or no work?? You could also mediate on; feelings around your current workload? Are your priorities and responsibilities aligned with your heart? How are your duties making you feel?
The ruling planet of Capricorn is Saturn who recently went retrograde in the sign of Pisces. Retrogrades allow us to turn inward, review and revisit themes associated to the the sign the planet is travelling through. So in this scenario, we are reviewing our discipline (Saturn) around Pisces themes: escapism, victim mentality, spirituality, service, boundaries and selflessness. If you have had issues in these areas, it would be a good process to write each one out and meditate on what you have achieved, (notice I only say achieved. This should not be an exercise to clobber yourself!).
There is a colossal amount of planetary support in place for building a better future. Any investments or ideas which are aligned with positive change are getting strengthened and expect good news if you have been building a conscious, humanitarian business.
As Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign, this moon offers opportunities to explore and heal matters related to the energetic root chakra. This is the home of our unconscious personality, where old experiences and mental impressions are stored. By becoming still and listening inwardly, we are able to see our patterns and core beliefs about ourselves from an objective perspective. This is healing in itself. The more we shine the light of truth upon these recurring thoughts, the less powerful they become. The ability to see what has been buried deep will become increasingly strong as we approach the new moon in Cancer, so keep up the self enquiry.
I will be hosting an Online Moon Circle on Thursday 29th June 8pm to talk more about the energy surrounding the full moon, and an Outdoor Full Moon Tree Kirtan on Sunday 2nd July 6:30pm to connect with the spirit of the Oak Tree and send loving vibrations out over London through the use of mantra. AND! An Online Kundalini Yoga class for strengthening foundations on Monday 3rd July 10:30am. All levels of experience welcome at all events, and all at UK times. If you can’t make it, here are some ideas you could add to your personal full moon ritual:
Frogs - a very popular exercise in kundalini yoga for drawing energy into the root chakra. Here’s a short video explaining how to do a frog
Oak Tree - the Oak is a symbol of strength, growth and maturity. Find yourself an Oak tree to sit beneath. Slow your breathing, become very still and listen for guidance regarding your path.
Self-acceptance - habits and behaviour patterns are built over years and are not unpicked overnight. We are all work-in-progress, self-acceptance is the ability to accept both strengths and challenges without judgment. If there is a habit or behaviour you beat yourself up for, explore its root, learn about its role in your life and accept where you are at with it.
Smell - the physical sense associated with the root chakra is smell. Explore the world of fragrance. This could be food, essential oils, flowers, herbs. Try a few and observe how they make you feel.
Tea Leaf Divination - Tasseography is the art of identifying symbols and interpreting messages found in the shapes and patterns of tea leaves. Choose a light coloured cup, and fine leaves for this practice. Enjoy your brew contemplating that which you seek guidance. Turn the cup upside down on a saucer, turn it, tap it, do whatever feels right for you before revealing the leaves. Here’s a useful article for tea leaf reading
Wishing everyone a strong and practical full moon. May your path lead you to greatness.
